No problem – Mountskip has it all!
Our comfortable modern holiday lodges are situated next to the Mountskip Livery – our other family business – in the heart of the beautiful Lothian countryside. Although it’s been popular among Edinburgh folk for centuries as a place to walk, ride, practice country sports or just take in the air and views, the area remains somewhat of a hidden gem for visitors to discover.
Offering both rugged hills and rolling farmland, and a short drive from the beaches and links of Scotland’s Golf Coast, there is still something for everyone in the vicinity of Mountskip. Walking of all levels is available in the Pentland Hills Regional Park while gentle strolls can also be enjoyed at Vogrie Country Park just a mile down the road. Vogrie has activities for all ages with its excellent Cedar Wood Café, adventure play area, toddler play park for younger children and 9-hole golf course.
Edinburgh
And yet Mount Skip is just half an hour from the centre of Edinburgh, with its Castle, museums, theatres, bustling restaurants and world-class shopping. No mention of the Scottish capital would be complete without reference to the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Old and New Towns. Edinburgh also boasts a long list of events during the summer which complement the world-famous Edinburgh Festival and Fringe Festival.
Dalkeith
Further historic attractions around Mountskip include the medieval burgh of Dalkeith, with its palace where Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed during the Jacobite Rebellion and a country park which includes a large adventure playground and many activities for families and children; and Rosslyn Chapel made famous by the Da Vinci Code but well worth a visit in its own right!
Whether you want an active holiday, plan to combine a country retreat with some shopping and culture, or just want to enjoy some peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, the Mountskip Holiday Lodges are an ideal holiday or weekend break destination.
